Ghent is a lively city, offering a wide range of activities and events.  Ghent has several cinemas offering a wide range of movies serving both the average moviegoer and the film fanatic. Ghent is also on the international map as far as music is concerned, with musical events ranging from regular productions at the opera to the ‘Gentse Feesten' and from the Flanders Festival

to the Blue Note Festival to I Love Techno.

Sports

The ‘Topsporthal Vlaanderen' puts Ghent on the world map for indoor sports. Every year it is witness to new Belgium, European and world records. Also, the annual cycling event, the ‘Zesdaagse' takes place in the Kuipke, in Ghent's Citadel Park. Additionally Ghent is the starting point for another legendary high point in the cycling calendar - the Omloop het Volk. The city's department for sport organizes courses in the various leisure centers and swimming pools.
