The City of Ghent scores high in the field of creativity |

In 2011, the City of Ghent had two studies carried out: the first study was made by the internationally renowned urban consultant Charles Landry
(the ‘Creative City Index') and concerned a measurement of the creative heartbeat of the City of Ghent. The second study concerned the creative economy in the City. Ghent scored 64,41% on the Creative City Index, the highest score of all cities which had so far been examined by Charles Landry (some other cities which had been examined by Landry are amongst others Bilbao (Spain), Freiburg (Germany) and Oulu (Finland). Landry calls Ghent ‘a pocket sized metropolis': a rare combination of the intimacy of a small city and the openness of a real metropolis.

The Ghent office market keeps developing |

Owing to the realisation of various office buildings on different strategic locations the Ghent office market keeps developing. In total, the office supply in 2011 is estimated at nearly 1,4 million m². Which means a growth of 10% compared to 2006.
In total, 60.000m² of floor surface for offices has been marketed in 2011. That number is 20% higher than the average of the past decade. Furthermore, the low percentage of 4,4% of unoccupied offices at the Ghent office market proves that the market is flourishing and stable compared to the past years.

Van 8 tot en met 11 maart 2011 participeerde de Stad Gent aan de internationale vastgoedbeurs MIPIM. Deze vastgoedbeurs is uniek in haar soort, van bijzonder hoog niveau en promotioneel voor onze stad van groot belang. De Stad Gent was via de beursstand "City of Ghent", een realisatie van de vzw Flanders Gent Development Group, vertegenwoordigd op de beurs.
